Sarah Lail
Sarah Lail , Coach

School: Baylor

Coach, With six Baylor Lady Red Raiders registering 250 or more digs and six totaling more than 30 aces, Lail guided her team to the Division II-AA state championship. It marked the program's ninth state-final appearance and fourth title. "That truly is the beauty of this championship," Lail said. "So many contributed, which is what makes it so much more special." Leading the way was setter and recent MTSU commitment Sarah Sumida, who had 1,480 assists this season and ends her career as the TSSAA's all-time leader. Sumida is also adept at scoring off fake sets and managed 142 kills. And in keeping with the balance theme, five other Lady Raiders had more kills than that, led by junior Ally Craig's 414. Baylor started 31-0 and finished 42-5, winning the East/Middle Region title and the River City Rumble and the Showdown at the Sunsphere. "This team was so unique," Lail said. "There were so many contributors. It was really a team effort, led by a spectacular senior."
