Tim Couch
Tim Couch , Coach

School: Silverdale Baptist

Coach, Couch is the first coach to guide a Silverdale Baptist Academy team to a TSSAA state title in any sport. He spent five previous seasons as the Lady Seahawks' head coach, then stepped away at the end of the 2016 season after leading a Class A state-runner-up finish. Couch returned to head the program this season as Silverdale made the transition to the newly expanded Division II-A classification. SBA won the first DII-A East District 2 title but fell to Chattanooga Christian in the East Region final. The Lady Seahawks "squeezed" by their state-playoff first-round opponent before winning a best-of-three quarterfinal series on the road. They lost their first double-elimination game at the Spring Fling but came back through the losers bracket and won the championship. Couch likened their run to that of NCAA champion Florida State, which faced four elimination games and won the Atlantic Coast Conference's first softball national title. "Watching the end of the Women's College World Series reminded me of how much we had to fight back and all the elimination games we had to go through," Couch said. "I'm just proud of them. They deserved what they got. It's hard to believe, still."
