Coach, Gordon Lee's boys' golf team has won four state titles in the past six years, but the Georgia Class A Public championship Windham's team won this spring in his second year was extra special. The Trojans totaled a respectable 312 the first day of the two-day tournament at Double Oaks in Commerce. But on the final day, they shot a school-record 300 and ended up winning the tournament by 34 shots. They had just set the record at 303 in their title run the year before. Making things especially memorable for the Windham family, Tucker, a junior and Todd's son, shot a personal- best 3-under-par 69 during the clinching round. Coupled with the 74 he shot in the opening round, the younger Windham ended up in a three-way tie for low medalist. Senior Gray Weldon (fourth individually at 148) contributed a par score to the school-record round, and junior Jacob Carlock added a 76 after shooting his best competitive round (75) on the first day of the tournament. Completing the second-day round was senior Cole Walker's career-equaling low round (83). "At the state is where we hit our stride," Coach Windham said. "The second day we put it all together and broke the school record. You want to see all four of your guys firing on all cylinders, and the second day we did."
