Beverly Blackwell
Beverly Blackwell , Coach

School: Signal Mountain

Coach-Coach-In her eighth season as coach, Blackwell guided the Lady Eagles to a repeat of the Class A/AA state title, this one coming by a much more lopsided score (Freshman6-72 over East Nashville) compared to last year's six-point nail-biter. A school-record 13 girls scored points in 13 different events, including five state champions, to help Signal Mountain claim the title. "We knew how to strategize better this year, how to score more points," Blackwell said. "We talked a lot during practice about what everybody needed to do, and we had a lot of girls do more than they were expected to."
